Tangail district administration has imposed section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for three days starting from Thursday (Nov 21).
The curfew will remain effective from 5 am to 7 pm everyday till Saturday (Nov 23).
Tangail Additional Deputy Commissioner Mosharraf Hossain said that curfew was imposed to avoid clashes between two groups.
Former Tangail-3 lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana’s family and supporters have undertaken programs to observe his older brother Aminur Rahman Khan Bappi’s death anniversary.
Another group has supposedly undertaken counter programs, prompting the administration to impose curfew.
“The counter programmes may cause law and order to break down,” ADC Hossain said before adding that the section 144 has been imposed in the surrounding areas as well.
