District administration of Rajshahi has asked for a yearly allotment of Tk 313,000 to protect nests of guest birds in a mango grove in a village in Bagha Upazila.
The request for allotment has been sent to the ministry of agriculture. The money will be given to those looking after the grove.

“With the allotted amount, we will be able to develop a safe sanctuary for the birds,” he hoped.
Agriculture officer of Bagha, Shafiullah Sultan, said: “As per the High Court order and directive of the district administration, we inspected the grove and found 38 nests; then, we tried to assess the losses that the lessors of the mango grove might face due to the presence of the birds and came to the conclusion that it may be Tk 313,000. Then we gave a report to the district administration which then sent it to the ministry of agriculture.”
