Bodies of missing 9 fishermen recovered from Barishal

BarishalBodies of nine fishermen, who went missing in the Meghna River on Sunday (Nov 10), have been recovered from the Meghna-Elisha estuary in Mehendiganj upazila of Barishal.
Police recovered the bodies from Bahadurpur point of the estuary on Monday (Nov 11).
Barishal Superintendent of Police (SP) Saiful Islam confirmed the matter.
The victims have been identified as Md Billal, 32, Kabir Hossain, 40, Nazrul Islam, 35, Kamal, 35, Abbas Munshi, 45, Hasan Molla, 38, Rafik Bishwas, 55, Nur Nabi Bepari, 30, and Mafij Matabbar, 35. All hailed from Charfesson upazila in Bhola.
Mehendiganj police Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamal Chandra Dey said the bodies have been brought to the police station and they would be handed over to their families after confirming identities.
Bhola SP Sarkar Mohammad Kaisar said a fishing trawler, owned by Tofayel Majhi, carrying 24 fishermen capsized in the Meghna River due to the inclement weather after the cyclonic storm Bulbul on Sunday afternoon.
The fishermen were returning to Charfesson from Chandpur.
Of the fishermen, 10 were rescued alive and one body was recovered on Sunday night, he said.
