Khulna City Corporation has congratulated Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team for their outstanding achievement in the latest edition of the T20 Asia Cup, held earlier this year. The reception ceremony was held on Monday, 23 July, at the city’s Shaheed Altaf auditorium with Mayor Mohammad Moniruzzaman as chief guest.

Bangladesh women became the champion in the latest edition of T20 Asia Cup, beating mighty India in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The women cricket team’s captain, Salma Khatun, along with Rumana Ahmed, Ayasha Rahman Suktara, were awarded with crests and money at the programme.

Congratulating the players, Mayor Moniruzzaman said: “the achievements of Khulna girls in the recent T20 world cup have uplifted the image of Bangladesh in front of the world.”
The success of Khulna girls will motivate the sports sector in Khulna and will encourage emerging players of Bangladesh.”
More talented players will come out if their skills are nurtured properly, hoped the mayor.
