A mother, Moushumi Akhter, gave birth to six stillborn babies on Sunday in Naogaon, informed the city’s sadar hospital.

Civil Surgeon, Dr Mominul Haquem, said: “we were unable to save the lives of the children as they were born prematurely, at four months.”

The mother is out of danger, confirmed the doctor.

Hospital’s senior staff, nurse Farhana said, “It was difficult to save the babies as they were born way ahead of their due date.”

Relatives of Moushumi said that they came to know she was carrying six children after an ultrasonography report.

On Saturday morning, she felt labour pain and one of the babies was delivered at home.

Later, the pregnant mother was taken to hospital where the other five were also delivered still born.
