Police arrested a journalist in Khulna on Monday (Oct 21) in a case filed under the Digital Security Act for posting provocative status on social media.
The arrestee, Munir Uddin Ahmed, is the former general secretary of Khulna Press Club and a district correspondent of the New Nation, an English daily.
He was accused of posting provocative status on Facebook regarding the mob-police clash in Bhola, which happened on Sunday (Oct 20), said Khulna Sadar police OC Aslam Bahar Bulbul.
Munir was sent to jail following a court order on Monday evening, he said.
The OC added that Sub Inspector Md Sariful Alam of Khulna Sadar police station filed the case against Munir under Sections 25, 28, 29 and 31 of the Digital Security Act.
