The dean of law department, the chairmen of several departments and two provosts have stepped down from their post at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
They handed in their resignation to the acting vice chancellor on Tuesday (Oct 15), said a statement.
The statement added that six new proctors were appointed the same day.
Law department dean Md Abdul Kuddus Mia, provosts Mohammad Rabbi Ullah and Rabiul Islam, agriculture department chairman MA Sattar, food and agro process engineering division chairman Nazmul Shahin and Livestock department chairman Md Shafiquzzaman and student affairs advisor Abdur Rahim Khan have stepped down from their posts.
The university has been mired in controversy for its inclination to suspend its students. On Sept 11, the suspension of a campus correspondent and law student Fatema Tuz Zinia sparked protests.
Later allegations of graft and irregularities were brought against the vice chancellor and he stepped down on Sept 30.
