Tuhin HasanFive-year-old Tuhin Hasan was murdered by his father, paternal uncle and his cousin, police say.

Sunamganj Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman disclosed the information in a press briefing on Tuesday (Oct 15) evening.

He said: “Tuhin’s father Abdul Basir, paternal uncle Nasiruddin and cousin Shahriar murdered him and hung him from a tree to frame their rivals over the murder.”

Earlier in the day, three people were remanded in the case filed over the gruesome murder of the five-year-old.

In a heinous act of crime, a five-year-old boy was brutally murdered by his own relatives on Monday in Sunamganj’s Derai upazila.

The murder, which drew condemnation from people across the country on social media, took place in the early hours in the Kejaura village under the upazila’s Rajanagar union, according to locals and police.

The murderers had left the child’s body hanging from a tree near the family’s house, after stabbing him, slitting his throat, and cutting off his ears and genitals. The killers also left two knives they used to kill him jammed in his abdomen.
