Sunamganj child murder: Father among 3 remanded

Tuhin HasanA court has granted five-day remand for three suspects in the murder of five-year-old Tuhin Hasan in Deraiupazila of Sunamganj.
Sunamganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Shyam Kanto Sinha gave the order on Tuesday (Oct 15).
Tuhin's father Abdul Basir and his two siblings Abdul Mosabbir and Jamshed Ali have been placed on remand.
His mother, Monira Begum, filed the case, accusing 10 people early on Tuesday.
Previously, the victim’s uncle Nasiruddin and cousin Shahriar gave confessional statements before the Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Khaled Miah’s regarding their involvement in the murder.
On Sunday, Tuhin’s father, Abdul Basir, found Tuhin's mutilated body covered in blood around 3am, which was later recovered by the police in the morning.
The murderers left the child’s body hanging from a tree near the family’s house, after stabbing him, slitting his throat, and cutting off his ears and genitals.
The killers also left two knives they used to kill him jammed in his abdomen.
Later in the afternoon, police detained seven of Tuhin's family members - his father Abdul Basir, his uncles Mowlana Abdul Mosabbir, Jomshed Mia, Nasir and Zakirul, his aunt Khoyrun Begum and cousin Tania -for questioning.
At a media call on Monday (Oct 14), the district’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Mizanur Rahman said that they found the involvement of several family members in the murder.
He, however, declined to disclose the details for the sake of the investigation.
The news of the murder and photos of Tuhin’s dead body soon went viral on social media, drawing condemnation.
Many questioned the sanity and humanity of those who killed the five-year-old, and demanded immediate arrest and the maximum punishment for them.
