Slingshot Ruman from Khulna is now gold winning archer

Ruman Shana, alias Sabuj from Khulna’s remote area near the Sunderbans, is now a top class archer. He won the gold in singles category in the Philippines and made the country and family proud.
From a young age, Ruman used to hunt birds using slingshots and this helped him to hone his skills.
Many villages took the help of Ruman’s accurate aim to extract mangoes from the trees.
Roman Sana`s father and mother.When in class six, Ruman was electrified in a heater and could have died. His journey as an archer began from class eight. At that time a team from the federation came to Khulna are arranged a training. At that time, the coach, Sajjad Hossain talked to his mother and arranged for Ruman to come to Dhaka. Thus began his journey to become an archer.
In 2012, he broke his leg which impeded his quest to become a top grade athlete but with support from the federation, he recovered and stunned everyone by winning gold for the Ansars with a broken leg.
Roman Sana won the gold in singles category in the Philippines and made the country and family proud.Ruman’s mother says: “Initially, I did not want him to go to Dhaka but gave permission in the hope that he would bring glory for the country.”
“When I heard that he had won gold in the Philippines, I was ecstatic, I did not tell him that I was unwell. He has brought glory and triumph for the country and fulfilled my dream,” said the mother.
