A court in Kishoreganj has sentenced 10 people to life imprisonment over the 2011 murder of a farmer at a village in the district.
On Monday (Sept 16), additional district and sessions judge’s court delivered the verdict, when it acquitted 12 others as charges against them were not proven beyond doubt, said Prosecutor Jiban Kumar.
The convicts — Badal, Nayan, Manik, Sabuj, Lokman, Alamgir, Mizan, Giasuddin, Rahmat Ali and Mamun Mia — have been fined by Tk 500,000 each, he said.
According to the case documents, several people were injured, including a farmer Manik Mia on Aug 6, 2011, following a land dispute at Paloikanda village in Karimganj Upazila. Later in the day, Manik died at the local state-run hospital.
