Man killed in Rajbari ‘shootout’

Photo shows a police gun barrel.A man has been killed in Rajbari in what the police described as a shootout.
The incident was reported around 3am on Monday (Sept 16) from Kalibari area in Rajbari Sadar Upzaila’s Chandani Union, said police.
The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Abdur Rahim who was wanted in 8 cases filed at different police stations in the districts.
“Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid in the area to arrest Rahim. As soon as police reached the spot, Rahim and his cohorts opened fire on them prompting them to fire back in self defense,” Rajbari Sadar police OC Swapan Kumar Majumder told Bangla Tribune.

“Rahim was caught in line of cross firing and suffered bullet wounds while his associates managed to flee the scene. He was rushed to Rajbari Sadar Hospital where the doctor declared him dead,” said OC Majumder.

“Two firearms, one ammunition and nine empty bullet shells were seized from the scene,” he said.

“The body has been kept at the hospital for autopsy,” added the OC.
