Three people of a family have been killed and 10 others injured in a road accident in Gopalganj, police said.
The incident was reported from Gopalpur area of the district’s Kashiani Upazila on Friday afternoon.
The deceased are Hasura Begum, 65, Asma Begum, 50, and Poly Begum, 35, wife of Sheikh Robiul Islam. All the deceased and injured are relatives and hailed from Pinggolai village of the upazila.
Kashiani police OC Azizur Rahman said, “Robiul Islam had bought a new pickup van and he was taking his family and relatives by the newly-bought vehicle to a trip to Khanjahan Ali’s shrine in Bagerhat.”
The pickup collided with a truck in Gapalpur area, killing two of the pickup riders on the spot and injuring 11 others.
The injured were taken to the state-owned hospital in the district town where another succumbed to her injuries, said the OC.
