As many as five people were killed and 15 others were injured in separate road accidents late on Tuesday (Sept 10) in the districts of Bogura, Chattogram and Satkhira.
In Bogura, a sugar-laden truck toppled over an auto rickshaw, killing two on the spot and injuring three others.
The incident happened on the Bogra-Natore highway in Gohail area of Shajahanpur upazila around 9pm, reports Bangla Tribune’s correspondent in the northern district.
The deceased have been identified as Nurul Islam Sheikh, 45, and Tafazzol Hossain, 42.
Kunderhat highway police outpost Sub Inspector (SI) said: "The injured have been admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC).
"They are in critical condition."
In Chattogram, two people, including a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), were killed and 10 others injured in a road accident in Mirsarai upazila.
The accident took place around 10pm on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway near the Jamaler Dokan area, reports UNB.
The deceased are Mosharraf Hossain Milon, 23, cultural affairs secretary of Chhatra League's Mirsarai upazila unit and Mohamamd Alauddin, 60.
Assistant Director of Chittagong Fire Service and Civil Defense Jashim Uddin said: "A pick-up carrying passengers plunged into a roadside ditch after being hit by a speedy truck."
"All the injured were taken to a local hospital where doctors pronounced Alauddin dead. Milon succumbed to his injuries while being taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital," Jashim added.
In Satkhira, a Juba League activist was killed and two others were injured when a motorcycle hit a human hauler in Shyamnagar upazila.
The deceased is Mostafizur Rahman, 24, an activist of Nurnagar union unit Jubo League and son of Abu Musa of the upazila, reports UNB.
Nurul Huda, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shyamnagar police station, said: "A motorbike carrying Mostafizur and two others collided with a human hauler around 10:30pm.
"The three bikers, injured in the accident, were taken to a local hospital where doctors pronounced Mostafizur dead."
They were returning home from a rally of Juba League in Kaliganj upazila, the OC added.
