Tufan Sarkar’s brother killed in Bogura

ShootoutA ‘drug trader’, Putu Sarkar, 45, was killed in a reported shootout with police at Bhatkandi Bridge area around 3am on Friday.
He was a brother of Tufan Sarkar, a notorious Workers’ League leader who is accused of raping a girl and torturing her family.
Based on information that two groups of ‘drug traders’ were fighting over the shares of drugs in the area, a team of police raided there, said Additional Superintendent of Police (media), Sanatan Chakrawarty.
At one point, the criminals opened fire on them forcing police to retaliate, triggering a gunfight, he added.
Police recovered the body of Putu Sarkar with bullet injuries and took him to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
He was declared dead by the duty doctors there.
The victim was wanted in five drug-related cases, police sources said.
Police also seized 500 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets, one gun and eight bullets from the scene.
