A woman has died of dengue in Madaripur amid a massive outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease across Bangladesh.
Thirty-year-old Sumi Akhter died late on Saturday (Aug 24) while being shifted to a hospital in Dhaka.
“Sumi was admitted to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex after being diagnosed with dengue on Aug 20,” said Shibchar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Abdul Mokaddes.
He added that the doctors referred her to a hospital in Dhaka after her condition deteriorated on Saturday (Aug 24) evening and she died on the way to the hospital.
So far, 7 deaths from dengue fever have been reported from the district.
