Nasir Uddin, Science and Technology Affairs Secretary of Awami League’s Savar upazila unit, filed the case against Zafrullah with Ashulia police station on Thursday (Aug 22) morning.

Zafrullah has been made the main accused in the case, said Ashulia police station Officer in Charge (OC) Rizaul Hoque Dipu confirmed.

The others accused are Gonoshasthaya Kendra Director Saiful Islam Shishir, Administrative Officer Abdul Salam, 20 named and fifty unnamed individuals.

According to the case docket, a group of people carried out an attack at Zafrullah’s orders on twenty shops owned by Nasir Uddin and his brother in Ashulia’s Bashbari area on late Tuesday (Aug 20) night.

The attack had been carried out in a bid to take over the property on which the shops are set up, it mentioned, adding that the attackers had also looted cash and valuables from the shops.

When contacted, Gonoshasthaya Kendra Director Saiful Islam said that the property belonged to Gonoshasthaya Kendra and Nasir Uddin had been running the shops there illegally.

Saiful Islam had denied claims of attacks and looting of the shops.

OC Rizaul Hoque Dipu said that the case had been registered as they had found preliminary evidence of the allegations brought and further action will be taken based on investigation reports.
