A tea garden worker has been beaten to death over a land dispute in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj.
The deceased is Sujit Reli, 35, son of Toru Reli who resided at the Noapara tea garden in Madhabpur.
Police said that Sujit has a long standing dispute with Helal Reli, Sujit’s cousin on his father’s side, over property matters.
On Monday (Aug 19) morning, a quarrel broke out between Helal and his brothers and Sujit during which the others beat Sujit to death.
Sujit was later taken to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where on duty doctors declared him dead.
Police were trying to arrest those involved in the matter, said Madhabpur police station Officer in Charge (OC).
