A college student has gone missing in Jhinai river in Tangail’s Basail.

The missing student is Hridoy Mia alais Tushar, 17, a first-year student of a local college and son of Anowar Mia who is a resident of Paikpara area in Mirzapur upazila.

According to family members, Hridoy went missing while taking a bath in the river along with two of his friends on Thursday (Aug 15) afternoon.

Family members have filed a general diary (GD) in this connection.

On being informed, a team of fire service divers from Tangail began a rescue operation.

Official of the upazila fire service station Akhteruzzaman said that they were having difficulties in conducting the operation due to strong currents in the river and had not been able to trace the young boy till 11 pm on Thursday.
