Police in Sunamganj have rescued a child, three days after he was kidnapped from Jamalganj upazila of the district.

Three people have also been arrested for their suspected involvement in the kidnapping. The suspects were Jobeda Khatun, Mabel Mia and Kabir Hossain.

Police Superintendent Md Mizanur Rahman disclosed the information at media brief held on Friday (Aug 16) morning.

Based on information, police rescued the child during a drive conducted in Ramnagar village. 

According to police, the child, Rafsan Mia, 10, son of Anu Mia and Fahmida who were residents of Lakshmipur village, was stolen on Aug 13 by Jobeda and Mabel. 

The suspects later sold the child in exchange for Tk 10,000 to Kabir Hossain on the next day.

Police said that the suspects had confessed to their crimes during a preliminary interrogation.

The child’s father has filed a cased against the suspects with Jamalganj police over the kidnapping.
