The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has resumed its ferry service on Shimulia-Kathalbari route in Munsiganj six hours after service remained suspended due to bad weather.
"Ferries start operating around 3:35pm on Tuesday (Aug 13) after weather becomes favourable," said Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, deputy general manager of BIWTA's Shimulia jetty.
Nearly 400 vehicle mostly light vehicles were seen waiting in the jetty to cross the river as the operation of stopped at 10am on Tuesday.
However, launch and speed boat servicers, which usually carry passengers, remained suspended since 9am, causing miseries to Eid holidaymakers.
