All water transport services including ro-ro ferries on the route remained stopped since 10am on Tuesday (Aug 13), said Profullo Chowhan, assistant manager of BIWTA's Shimulia jetty.
The suspension caused over 200 vehicles waiting for ferry to cross the river, he added.
BIWTA's Shimulia jetty inspector Md Suleman said that launch and speed boat servicers, which usually carry passengers, too have remained suspended since 9am, causing miseries to Eid holidaymakers.
The water transport regulator, however, said the operation of water vessel services would resume after weather become favourable.
"Jetties' condition is very bad. All water transport service including ferry remain suspended and it will resume after weather becomes normal," said Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, deputy general manager of BIWTA's Shimulia jetty.
