The dengue situation in Bangladesh is concerning but remains under control, says World Health Organisation (WHO).
This was revealed after a five-member delegation led by its acting representative of in Bangladesh Dr Edwin Saniza Salvador met with Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon at his Banani residence in the capital on Saturday (Jul 20).
Briefing the media after the meeting, Dr Salvador said the WHO want to work with city corporations, health ministry and other public organisations to prevent mosquito menace.
As part of that programme, they have sat with the mayor and discussed how we can work together to solve the problem, he added.
Speaking to the media Mayor Sayeed Khokon said they informed the WHO of some certain issues.
“They will examine our medicines and will let us know the feedback soon after the test.
“The dengue situation has deteriorated more comparing to the past years. However, it’s still under control. There is no alternative to create awareness to control [dengue menace],” he added.
