Jatiya Party leaders have demanded that deceased party chairman H M Ershad has to be buried at the latter’s residence in Rangpur. The workers and leaders of the party have warned that any attempt to take the body to Dhaka will be resisted. The declaration came from Rangpur city mayor and city Jatiya Party president Md Mustafizur Rahman Mostafa.

He said: “Ershad had stated of his desire to be buried in Rangpur but we now see a conspiracy underway to erase his memory from the people’s minds.”

We want to bury him in Rangpur so people of all social spheres can offer their respect to the deceased leader, he added.

After Ershad’s body is brought, his janaza will be held at the collector’s field and later, he will be buried in Palli Nibash, his residence, asserted Md Mustafizur Rahman Mostafa.

He also called on GM Quader, the next chairman of the party to strengthen his position.
