A landslide has killed two passengers of a CNG-run auto rickshaw in Rangamati’s Kaptai Upazila.
The incident occurred around 11am on Saturday (Jul 13) in the upazila’s Karigar Para under Rakhali Union, said Rangamati Acting Deputy Commissioner SM Shafi Kamal.
The deceased have been identified as Ajoy Barua and Sujoy Mong Marma.
“The deceased people were travelling to Rangamati. On their way, heaps of soil from a hill swallowed the moving vehicle on Raikhali-Bangalhalia-Bandarban road leaving them dead on the spot,” said Kamal.
“Fire service members are on the way to the scene to conduct a rescue operation,” added Kamal.
