Miscreants have hacked a woman Union Parishad (UP) member to death in Narayanganj, police say.
Beauty Begum, a local ruling Awami League leader, is a member of Rupganj’s Kayetpara Union.
Narayanganj’s Additional SP (crime) Abdullah Al Mamum said the attack took place in front of Chanpara slum in early Wednesday (Jun 26).
Local spotted the body and informed the police. Later, police identified the deceased.
“The body bore hit marks by sharpen-weapons on the heads and hands,” said the official.
Family, however, claimed rivals carried out the attack.
Victim’s son Parvez Zaman said his mother used to walk at dawn as she had diabetics.
“Miscreants hacked her to death after she went a talk today (Wednesday).”
Her rivals might have involved in the killing, Pervez alleged.
