Railway’s lost splendour will be restored: Minister

File photo of Railways Minister Advocate Nurul Islam SujanThe government has initiated measures to modernise the railways system in order to end existing mismanagement and irregularities, says Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujon.
His statement came on Saturday (Jun 22) while addressing an event of the railways security forces (RNB) in Pabna, reports media.
“The prime minister has stressed the importance of building an integrated communication system including rail, water and airways, so that people are less dependent on roads.
“If a country is highly-developed then its railway system will be advanced too. The BNP government almost ruined the railway system; however, our present government is making strides developing it,” he said.
He further said they were making efforts to bring back the lost splendour of our railway system, for which everyone has to work together.
Lawmaker Nadira Yasmin Joly of the Pabna-Sirajganj women's reserved seat , Bangladesh Railway Director General Md Kazi Rafiqul Alam, and Khandakar Shahidul Islam, general manager of West Zone of Bangladesh Railway were present as special guests of the occasion.
Meanwhile, West Zone Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB) Chief Commandant Fattah Bhuiyan gave the welcome speech.
