A man has been hacked to death in Jhenaidah's Sadar upazila.
Police recovered the throat-slit body, which also bore several sharp weapon wounds, from a jute field in the upazila’s Bania Bahu village on Tuesday morning.
They also identified the deceased as Sohel Rana, the muezzin of Chapali Mosque at Kaliganj upazila. He hailed from Kotchandpur Upazila.
Jhenaidah's Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Kanak Kumar Das said, “Locals informed police after finding the throat-slit body in the jute field.
“Police recovered the body and sent it to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.”
The police official also said they suspect Sohel was murdered after he was picked up from somewhere else by the unknown killers.
He added that they were yet to identify the perpetrators or find out a motive behind the murder.
