A woman has been reportedly killed, with a pickaxe, by her husband in Dinajpur.
The incident took place on Monday, police said.
The deceased is identified as Kirina Murmu, 45.
After the incident, husband Robin Mardi, 60, tried to commit suicide by drinking pesticides.
Mardi is currently under police custody and seeking medical help at Ghoraghat upazila health complex.
Ghoraghat police OC Amirul Islam said that the couple got into a fight and at one point Robin hit his wife on head with a pickaxe, killing her on the spot.
“Later, the man tried to kill himself,” added the OC.
Police sent to body to the district’s M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Legal actions would be taken against Mardi soon, said OC Islam.
