Khaleda gets maid, I didn’t get chance to meet doctors in jail: ErshadJailed BNP chief Khaleda Zia has been provided with her housemaid along with medical facilities but I never got to see my physicians’ faces in jail, said a disgruntled Jatyia Party Chairman HM Ershad, recounting the horror of his six years in prison.

Khaleda wanted me to die in jail but the Almighty kept me alive, he asserted.
Speaking to reporters at the Rangpur district Circuit House on Friday, Ershad said, “Khaleda is entitled to take treatment at CMH as the wife of a former army chief; I also take treatment there.”
But I did not receive treatment in my six years in prison, whereas she insists on treatment as per her wish; this can’t go on, deplored Ershad, who is also the Special Envoy to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Endorsing shootouts during crackdown on drugs, he said: “If some people die in the process to eradicate drugs from society, then it should be accepted.”
Although I am not in favour of extra-judicial killings, we have no sympathy for people who are decimating the youth potential of the country with narcotics, came his emphatic response.
Advocating the continuation of drug raids, the former president, said: “many small drug dealers have been nabbed, whereas the godfathers have gone into hiding.”
Speaking on the upcoming Gazipur and Rajshahi city polls, Ershad hoped for a competitive election.
However, he predicted victory for Awami League candidates, saying: “they are in a better position.”
The Chief Election Commissioner assured us of a fair election and we want to see that the election is held freely and fairly, he added.
