Police held with 10,000 yaba tablets in Chattogram

Representational ImageA sub-inspector (SI) has been arrested with 10,000 yaba pills in Chattogram city.
The arrest was made during a joint drive of the Counter Terrorism Unit and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in CGS Colony of the port city's Agrabad area around 7:30pm on Friday (Jun 15), said police.
The arrestee was identified as Siddiqur Rahman was posted at the traffic department (Bandar Zone) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).
"Acting on a tip-off, Siddiqur was arrested following a drive. Later, 10,000 yaba tablets and cash money amounting to Tk 80,000 were seized from his possession," said Md Shahidullah, Deputy Commissioner of CMP's Counter Terrorism Unit.
A case has been filed against the arrested policeman in this regard.
According to CMP sources, two weeks back, Siddiqur was posted to the CMP's traffic department (Bandar Zone) from Shikalbaha police outpost in Karnaphuli upazila.
