A suspected drug trader was killed in a so-called gunfight with rivals at Prembagan area in Abhaynagar Upazila on Monday, police said.
The victim was identified as Shahidul Islam, 34, son of Nur Islam of Buikara village in the Upazila.
Acting on information that two groups of drug traders were exchanging gunfire in the area, a team of police went there around 3:30 am and recovered the bullet hit body of Shahidul, said Sheikh Goni Mia, officer-in-charge (OC) of Abhaynagar Police Station.
Police also recovered a pipe gun, two bullets and 120 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets from the spot.
Shahidul was wanted in more than ten cases, said the OC.
The death toll continued to rise during the countrywide anti-narcotic drives amid growing concerns of right groups and international watchdogs.
