Assault on Bogura journo: Aggrieved colleagues issue 48-hour ultimatum

Journalists in Bogura have issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the arrest of the miscreants who were involved in the attack on a local journalist.
Bogura Television Reporters’ Unity and Television Camerapersons’ Association announced the ultimatum from a human chain held in the town’s Satmatha area on Monday (May 27) afternoon.
On Sunday (May 26), Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) Vice-President Nurul Haque Nur and his companions were reportedly assaulted by Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders and activists in Bogura town.
Jamuna TV cameraperson Shahnewaz Shaon was beaten up, alongside 14 others, when he went to record the incident.
The journalists at Monday’s protest threatened that they would go for tougher movement if the attackers were not brought to book immediately.
Among other journalist leaders, Bogura Television Camerapersons’ Association President Shafiqul Islam, Bogura Television Reporters’ Unity President Abdur Rahim, Bogura Press Club General Secretary Mahmudul Alam Nayon spoke the programme.
