Nusrat Murder: Suspended principal remanded for sexual harassment

Suspended Sonagazi Islamia Fazil (Degree) Madrasa Principal Siraj-ud-DaulaSonagazi Islamia Fazil (Degree) Madrasa Principal Siraj-ud-Daula, has been remanded for two days in the sexual harassment case filed by Nusrat Jahan Rafi's mother.
The court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Zakir Hossain on Wednesday (May 22) granted the police two days to grill Siraj in custody after he was produced before the court.
"PBI (Police Bureau of Investigation) asked for a seven day remand to investigate the case filed by Nusrat's mother on March 27. But the court only granted a two day remand," said Nusrat murder case Investigation Officer Md Shah Alam (PBI).
"So far PBI has interrogated 21 people in a murder case where 12 accepted the charges against them in court," he added.
Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa in, was set ablaze on Apr 6 for refusing to withdraw sexual abuse charges against principal Siraj Ud Doula.
After battling critical burn injuries for five days, the 18-year-old died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Apr 10.
Her family filed another case on April 8 against eight people, including Sirajuddaula, for the attack on Nusrat. That case was accepted as a murder case.
