Two 'drug peddlers' killed in 'gun battles'

ShootoutThe law enforcers in Bogura have found a body at the Malgram Silimpur neighbourhood around 2am on Friday, said the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Bogura circle Sanatan Chakraborty.
The victim was identified as Rezaul Karim Dipjol, 38, an alleged drug peddler, hailed from Malgram.
Police claimed that Dipjol was caught in a ‘gun battle’ between two groups of ‘drug dealers’.
“Based on information of a gunfight, a team of police members dispatched to the area. Sensing the appearance of the lawmen, miscreants fled away”, said the ASP.
Police found the body and rushed to the Bogura state-run hospital where Dipjol was declared dead by the duty doctors, he added.
Firearms and 400 pills of contraband Yaba were found from the scene.
The police sources also said that he named in 10 different cases with police.
Another alleged drug trader was killed in a ‘shootout’ with police in Shariatpur’s Gosairhat Upazila on the wee hours of Friday, said the Superintendent of Police (SP) Abdul Momen.
The deceased was named as Ruhul Amin Bagha, 52.
Police operated a raid on a tip-off on drug dealing at the Bhadrachap area around 2am. The ‘drug dealers’ opened fire after police had appeared the spot, the SP said.
At one point police recovered Ruhul’s body from the scene, he added.
A locally made gun and some cannabis were seized from the spot, police said.
The victim was accused in six drug-related cases with police.
