Fire at CMCH tamed

Representational imageA fire broke out at the Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
However, no casualty was reported in the fire that broke out late on Monday (May 20).
According to the Chattogram Fire Service, the fire broke out around 8:45pm at ward no. 322 of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on the fifth floor of the hospital.
Jasim Uddin, deputy assistant director of Fire Service, said the fire was doused before the fire fighters could reach the hospital.
ASI Alauddin Talukder of the CMCH police outpost, said the fire broke out from the air condition of the operation theatre.
"The fire was put out immediately. There has been no casualty," he said.
The lone tertiary level hospital in the district with 1,313 beds, CMCH provides healthcare services to over 2,500 patients every day.
