Jubo League leader shot dead in Rangamati

RangamatiUnidentified assailants have killed a Jubo League activist in Rangamati’s Rajasthali Upazila.
The incident was reported around 11pm on Sunday (May 19) from Ward No 8 in the upazila’s Bangalhalia Union, said police.
The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Kya Hla Ching Marma, chairman of Ward No 8 Jubo League unit in Bangalhalia Union.
“Unidentified armed assailants have shot Kya Hla Ching Marma, to death at his home after 11pm on Sunday,” said Yumang Marma, chairman of Bangalhalia Union, also the general secretary of the local Awami League unit.
Claiming that the activists of Parbatiya Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samity (JSS) of MN Larma faction is behind the incident, Yumang Marma added, “Earlier, in the time of last Union Parishad elections, he (Kya Hla Ching Marma) was severely beaten by the JSS activists.”
“We have arrived at the scene and started investigation over the incident,” said Chandraghona police OC Md Ashraf Uddin.
“The assailants are yet to be identified,” added the OC.
