Police escort Kamrun Nahar Moni, a key suspect in the Nusrat Jahan Rafi murder case, at the Feni court premises on Monday (Apr 22).Police confirmed on Monday (Apr 22) that Kamrun Nahar Moni, one of the people directly involved in the murder of the Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi, is four months pregnant.
Shah Alam, the officer investigating the case, told the press that Moni not only bought the burqa and gloves for the three men but also held Nusrat down as the others set her on fire. Umme Sultana Poppy, another student involved in the murder, had called Nusrat to the roof and tied her legs together.
According to the police, Moni admitted her guilt in the confessional statement given on Saturday. She got married last year.
Moni was arrested by the police on Apr 15. The court granted five days in remand on Apr 17. The Police Bureau of Investigation team assigned to the case interrogated her and discovered crucial elements in the case.
Alim examinee Nusrat was torched on the roof of the madrasa on Apr 6 by Moni, by four burqa-clad assailants after she refused to withdraw the case against Sirajuddaula.
The 18-year-old, with 80 percent burns on her body, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Apr 10 after battling death for five days.
