One confesses to Bogura BNP leader murder

Mahbub Alam ShahinOne has confessed to the murder of BNP leader Mahbub Alam Shahin, who was hacked to death at Bogura.

The suspect, Payel Sheikh, confessed before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Billah Hussain on Thursday (Apr 18).

He has also given the court the names of nine people involved in the killing, said Bogura Sadar Circle Additional Police Superintendent Shanatan Chakrabarty.

He said that the victim’s wife filed a case with Bogura Sadar police naming six people and five other unnamed people.

Police arrested one Rasel on Wednesday (Apr17) and recovered a motorcycle that was used during the murder.

Based on information from Rasel, police arrested Payel who, according to the police has nine cases against him.

The court has granted the police five days to grill Rasel in custody after the police pleaded for 10 day remand.

The investigating officer in the case Inspector Ambar Hossain said that he has yet to receive the details of the confessional but Payel had, before this confessed to the police that dispute regarding the leadership of Bogura District Motor Owner’s Association.

Shahin who also served as the general secretary of Bogra sadar upazila unit of BNP was hacked to death on Sunday (Apr 14) on the main street in front of Nishindara Housing Estate area of the town.
