Three people have died and at least 15 others were injured in Sirajganj as two Hanif Paribahan buses collided head-on the Dhaka Rajshahi highway.

The incident was reported around 4:30on Wednesday (Mar 20), says police.

A Hanif Paribahan-operated bus, which was coming from Dhaka, collided with another bus of the same company which was coming from the wrong side of the road, Bangabandhu West police OC Syed Sahid Alam said.

“The collision between the buses left one dead on the spot and injured 17 others,” he said before adding, “Two among the injured succumbed to their injuries at the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital, where they were being treated.”

Identities of the victims weren’t immediately available, said Alam.

The hospital’s emergency department Dr Faisal Almed and Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Oliuzzaman said, many among the injured are in critical condition.
