Two police officers have been withdrawn from Netrokona Model police for harassing an innocent man on false narcotics charges.
The law enforcers are – Inspector Uttam Kumar Ray and Sub-Inspector Shakhawat Hossain.
“A committee has been formed to probe the incident based on allegations from locals,” Netrokona police Superintendent Joydeb Chowdhury.
“The police administration has been warned to be more careful about such harassments,” he added.
According to the locals, police brought in ruling Awami League activist Shakhawat Hossain for illegal possession of marijuana on Feb 18 and sent him to court the next day.
After that, Madanpur area locals placed lodged a complaint with Joydeb Chowdhury who formed a committee to probe the matter.
The committee headed by Additional Superintendent of police ASM Ashraf Alam was asked to submit the probe report soon.
The two police officers were withdrawn from duty based on the findings of the report.
