Masud Bin SayeediA Pirojpur Court has sent Masud Bin Sayeedi, the son of war crimes convict Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, to jail in a case files under the Explosives Act.

Rejecting Masud’s bail plea on Tuesday (Feb 19) Pirojpur’s Additional District and Sessions Judge Shamsul Haque ordered to send him to prison, said Public Prosecutor Khan Mohammad Alauddin.

Masud moved the trail court for bail as the six-week bail granted by the High Court expired on Tuesday.

According to case dossiers, Masud, who is also Indunkani Upazila Chairman, was holding a meeting with Jamaat leaders on Dec 25 of last year. Police raided their meeting, on a tip-off, and arrested two Jamaat activists with five petrol bombs and few crude bombs in their possession. Sensing police presence, Masud managed to escape.

Police started a case over the seizures the following day under the Explosives Act against 12 people, including Masud.

In 2014, Masud was elected Chairman of the then-Zianagar Upazila.
