Initial investigation has found the evidence of raping a young woman by two policemen in Manikganj as they kept the victim confined at the Upazila dak bungalow.
On Sunday, a woman lodged a written complaint with the Manikganj police super alleging that Saturia police SI Sekandar Hossain and ASI Mazharul Islam gang-raped her.
Following the allegation, the policemen were withdrawn from their duty and a two-member probe body was formed to look into the incident.
The body consists of Additional Superintendent of Police Hafizur Rahman of Sadar Circle and Senior Assistant Superintendent of District Special Branch Hamidur Rahman Siddique.
On Monday (Feb 11), Manikganj’s police super Rifat Rahman Shamim said, “The probe team investigated the allegation throughout the day. The victim also described the incident.
“Initial investigation found the allegation true,” he said.
As per the complaint, Sekandar took the victim to the dak bungalow when she came to the upazila headquarters along with another woman on Feb 7.
Sekandar and Mazharul raped her in turns and released her on Feb 10, threatening to kill her on crossfire if she discloses the matter to anyone.
