Satkhira police have once again arrested former MP Rifat Amin’s son Rashed Sarwar Rumon in connection to a case filed under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Rumon was arrested from Satkhira’s Benerpota area of Satkhira on Sunday (Jan 13) morning and sent to jail after he was produced before the court, said Satkhira Sadar police OC Mostafizur Rahman.

Rumon was driving his mother’s vehicle with “parliament member” sticker on it, he added.

His mother, a member of the 10th parliament, is also Satkhira unit Mahila Awami League president.

Rumon was previously arrested in Sept 2016 over two extortion cases filed by Satkhira Jubo League leader Zulfiqar Ali Ujjal and Padma Hatchery owner Sirajul Islam Bullet.

He made headlines again the same year for beating four people, including an Awami League leader and a cattle trader.

Rumon spent several days in jail after he was nabbed from Shyamnagar resort with his mother’s car, along with three women.

Rumon, infamous for his drug abuse and reckless motorbike driving, was spoiled from an early age, say locals.
