Jatiya Oikya Front’s demand for a dialogue over the Dec 30 polls is nothing but ludicrous, said senior Awami League leader Obaidul Quader.
“The whole world has recognised the national election. All the democratic countries have praised it. Now, a demand for a dialogue over the polls is nothing but ridiculous,” said the road transport minister.
His comments came on Friday (Jan 11) while visiting the construction sites of flyover and four-lane highways at the Dhaka-Tangail highways in Chandra.
Quader said, “What people of Bangladesh say is a great deat deal for us and what they (BNP-Oikya Front) says is not our concern.”
People overwhelmingly gave their verdict to the development under Shekh Hasina’s leadership, he before adding, “People have refused them (BNP-Oikya Front). Now, they are pressing demands in a bid to make the election questionable.”
Referring to the Oikya Front’s MPs-elect’s decision to skip Parliament, the senior AL leader urged the lawmakers reversed their decision and join the House.
“Is it legal that they (Oikya Front’s MPs-elect’s) show disrespect to people’s verdict,” Quader asked.
On resorting discipline on highways, the minister said, “Operation against illegal parking and establishment will start within a week after serving notices.
