A man in Chandpur allegedly murdered his wife and two kids and then hanged himself, said police.
The incident took place at on Sunday (Dec 16) night at the upazila’s Rampur Union. Police recovered the body on Monday (Dec 17) morning, confirmed Chandpur Sadar police OC Md Nasim Uddin.
Police have identified the deceased as Mainuddin, 30, his wife Fatema, 28 and their 5-year-old daughter Farzana Mithila and 1-year-old son Siam.
They suspect that a family feud might have been the reason behind the murders and Mainuddin’s subsequent suicide.
Locals said that Mainuddin, who worked in a bakery, had an ongoing feud with his wife for some time now. On Sunday night he posted a video of himself on Facebook, saying he was going to take his own life.
It is being suspected that he drowned his wife in a pond and asphyxiated both his children.
Additional Superintendent of Police Jahidur Rahama who was at the scene said that Fatema’s body was recovered from the pond while Mainuddin's body was found hanging from the ceiling.
