BNP’s Moyeen Khan ‘attacked’ during Narsingdi polls campaign

The local BNP claims at least 50 people, including Moyeen, his supporters and pedestrians, were injured.
A member of BNP’s policymaking National Standing Committee, Moyeen claimed that his campaign at the district’s Panchdona Bazar area was attacked by supporters of the ruling Awami League.
Local Madhabdi police’s OC Abu Taher confirmed of a clash, but could not provide details.
“A police team has headed for the scene soon after it was reported. Details can be said only after investigation. There were no police when the incident unfolded,” he said.
BNP leader Moyeen’s personal aide Bahauddin Bhuiyan Milton said the campaign came under attack when it was distributing leaflets at the Panchdona Bazar.
“Local activists of the Awami League and its affiliated attacked the campaign led by Moyeen Khan. They opened fire in presence of police. BNP leaders, including Moyeen Khan, were attacked when they took shelter at a shop. At least 50 people, including Moyeen Khan, were injured,” he said.
Three people have been treated at the state-run hospital in Narsingdi town while others have been admitted to different hospitals in the district town and Dhaka.
