Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader was addressing the media at Feni on Sunday (Dec 16)The ruling Awami League blames opposition alliance Jatiya Oikya Front of staging attack on its candidates in an effort to create unrest.
“In line with its plot to foil the election, the Oikya Front is staging attacks on themselves and blaming Awami League for it. The people are very well aware of their devious plan and will give a befitting reply on Dec 30 by voting for boat (Awami League),” its General Secretary Obaidul Quader said on Sunday (Dec 16).
His remarks came while speaking to the media at Feni after paying homage to the 1971 war heroes on Sunday, when Bangladesh is celebrating the 48th Victory Day.
“Those who have joined with evil forces sensing their defeat in the election has resorted to instigating violence after failing to fetch the people’s response. The government or the Awami League has nothing to do with it,” said Quader.
Referring to the death of two Awami League activists in Noakhali and Faridpur in pre-polls violence, the senior party leader said, “No BNP leader has been killed in violence.”
The elections will be held on time despite all conspiracies, he said.
“No evil force can foil the upcoming elections,” Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said before adding: “We will continue working so that we can ensure good governance.”
