Won’t back out from polls: MoududBNP leader Modudu Ahmed said they will not back out from the 11th Parliamentary Election despite the government’s all ill strategies.
“The country has no least polls atmosphere but we are still staying,” Moudud said a media briefing in Noakhali on Saturday (Dec 15).
The BNP’s National Standing Committee member is running on the party’s ticket from the Noakhali-5 constituency in the upcoming election salted for Dec 30.
Moudud said, “Despite the lots of odds, they decided to join in polls believing that a fair election would be held.
“The government mounted the degree of torture on the opposition since allotting the electoral symbols (on Dec 10),” he said.
Moudud claimed that nearly 200 party activists were injured by ruling Awami League and another 20 were arrested by police in over the past three days in his constituency.
“I can’t even visit my area for the campaign,” he said.
Moudud blamed AL General Secretary Obiaudul Quader for violating the electoral code of conducts.
Quader, who is the road transport minister, is the AL’s pick from the Noakhali-5 constituency in the Dec 30 election.
