BNP-ISI secret meeting aims at foiling polls: Quader

BNP and anti-government alliance Jatiya Oikya Front held a secret meeting with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) aiming to foil the upcoming polls, claimed Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.

“People of Bangladesh are not with Oikya Front, which is led by the mastermind of the Aug 21 grenade attack and a convicted fugitive, he told the media on Monday (Dec 10) at the Noakhali AL unit office while campaigning for the 11th Parliamentary Election due on Dec 30.

"Tarique Rahman is hatching conspiracies to foil the polls from London while Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is holding secret meeting at the Pakistan embassy,” he added.

The road transport and bridges minister said, “People of Bangladesh will exercise their right to franchise and there is nothing Pakistan can do about it. If BNP thinks they can resort to the violence of 2014 they are woefully wrong.”

“The 11th Parliamentary Election will be held timely despite the conspiracies.”

Citing BNP as a recognized terrorist party by foreign countries, Quader said, “Its inter-party conflict has spread outside. Activists who were left out of the polls race attacked the party office and put it under lockdown.”

He added that Awami League started building upon team work with its leaders a long time ago and those who have been deprived of nominations are involved in the polls campaign to help the party pick win.
